Military Family ID Cards

The Military Family Identification Card (MFID) has been designed to provide immediate family members with a standard means of identification. It provides tangible recognition that the military family member is an integral part of the Canadian Armed Forces.

This card is available upon request to the immediate family (spouse and dependent youth ages 13 to 18) of all CF members (Regular and Reserve Classes A, B and C).

To obtain an MFID card:

The Military Family Identification Card application form must be completed by the applicant, and approved by the unit of the CF member (stamped with the unit stamp or signature of the CF member’s supervisor). Forms are available at the MFRC office, or you can download the PDF version here.

A digital picture of the applicant will need to be submitted. If the applicant does not have access to a digital camera or scanner, he or she can have their picture taken using the MFRC digital camera.

Once completed, return the form to the MFRC.

The card will be issued by the MFRC. Before lamination, the signature of the cardholder AND the CF member is required.
