Employment and Education Assistance

Professional Career counseling

This service addresses employment and educational needs for the civilian spouses and youth of both Regular Force and Reserve Class B & C military members. The MFRC provides assessment and support on a one-on-one basis and referral to local community resources, at no cost to the civilian spouse or youth (up to 18 years old). Personnel from the referral agencies will travel to the individual’s home (Calgary only) or an alternate location in Calgary (the MFRC office is one possibility) to provide very personalized services such as assistance in cover letter and resume preparation and interview tips. The MFRC can also provide you with access to a computer, printer and fax machine to help with the process of submitting resumes.

If you are the spouse or youth of a Regular Force or Reserve Class B or C military member and are interested in this service, contact us to set up an appointment.

MFRC Resources

The MFRC can provide you with access to a computer, printer and fax machine to help with the process of submitting resumes. This service is open to all members of our military community (all CF members and their families, MFRC volunteers and civilian DND employees).

Education

The MFRC can also provide assistance in linking you with various educational opportunities in Calgary. We carry a variety of program information and guides from post secondary institutes in Calgary. These are available for pickup outside the MFRC office.

We have a number of helpful links to assist in your educational pursuits.

Children with Special Needs:
Under the School Act, school boards are required to provide every resident student with an education. That includes providing access to special education programs for students with special needs. Whether a student is gifted and talented or has mild/moderate or severe needs, specialized learning programs provide the unique educational opportunities they need to reach their potential. Parents are involved in decisions relating to programs and services for their child.
